ORGANIC CHOICE Mucuna Powder, 100 g — 100% pure organic mucuna (Mucuna pruriens).

Mucuna pruriens is a tropical vine that grows bean pods covered in prickly velvet hair, which is where the name velvet bean comes from. The seeds inside the pods are the part used. It is also known as kapikachhu and cowhage, is indigenous to southern China and eastern India, and has been used for centuries. Mucuna is one of the best natural sources of the amino acid L-dopa, a direct precursor to several neurotransmitters including adrenaline, noradrenaline and dopamine.

How to take it

A quarter to half a teaspoon, once or twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. It can be taken with water, juice or milk, mixed into smoothies, or added to meals.

Do not use this product if

• you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• you have schizophrenia, manic-depression or another mental illness — ORGANIC CHOICE state that people with these conditions should avoid mucuna
