What is FortiFood Coenzyme Q10 and what does it support?+
Each capsule contains 50mg of Coenzyme Q10 with Bioperine (black pepper extract) to enhance absorption. Q10 stimulates mitochondrial energy production and has antioxidant activity, and it is used for tiredness and poor physical performance.
How do I take FortiFood Q10?+
Take one capsule twice a day, preferably with fatty meals — this helps absorption, together with the Bioperine in the formula.
Can I take Q10 with my medication?+
Speak to your healthcare provider first — Q10 might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering medicines, and concomitant use might reduce the effects of warfarin. Always consult your health professional if you are seriously ill.
Is Q10 suitable during pregnancy?+
The maker advises avoiding use during pregnancy and lactation, as insufficient reliable information is available. Q10 is generally well tolerated, with only rare reports of diarrhoea, nausea, loss of appetite or an upset stomach.

ROLE IN THE BODY
Coenzyme Q10 supports mitochondrial energy production — the process by which every cell, including heart muscle cells, makes its energy. It also has antioxidant activity against lipid peroxidation. Bioperine (black pepper extract) has been shown to enhance the absorption of Q10.
COMMONLY TAKEN FOR
Tiredness and poor physical performance. Q10 is also commonly taken by people using statin medication, which can lower the body's own Q10 levels — discuss this with your healthcare practitioner.
TOLERABILITY
Q10 is generally well tolerated and no serious adverse effects have been reported with long-term use.
WARNINGS

INTERACTIONS
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS: Q10 might have additive blood-pressure-lowering effects. CHEMOTHERAPY: There is some concern that Q10 might protect tumour cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents and radiation therapy — consult your oncologist before use. WARFARIN: Concomitant use might reduce the anticoagulation effects of warfarin.
