What is Chinaherb Tonic for Men and Women used for?+

Tonic for Men and Women (Qi Wei Wan) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine formula whose main action is to nourish Kidney Qi and warm Yang. It is traditionally used for low libido with lassitude and a cold feeling in the lower back and knees — the picture TCM calls Kidney Qi and Yang Deficiency.

Is this tonic really for both men and women?+

Yes. In Chinese medicine, sexual function in both men and women depends mainly on Kidney Qi, and this formula addresses Kidney Yang Deficiency in either — a diminished sex drive with low energy, fatigue and a cold feeling in the lower back and knees.

Can I take Tonic for Men and Women during pregnancy?+

No — it is contra-indicated in pregnancy. Speak to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, nursing or on medication.

When is this tonic not the right formula?+

The product information notes it is not suitable for what TCM calls a Damp-Heat Pattern — for example turbid, yellowy urine with a thick yellow tongue coating. Decreased sexual function, impotence and premature ejaculation are the manifestations of Kidney Qi and Yang Deficiency. Tonic for Men and Women‘s main action is to nourish Kidney Qi and warm Yang. Since Yang depends on nourishment of Yin and Essence, the formulation is also based on the theory of “seeking Yang from Yin” and it is supplemented with nourishing Yin essence herbs. So, the source of Yang Qi is endless. The formula is for the help of low libido, impotence and premature ejaculation of Kidney Qi and Kidney Yang Deficiency.

If impotence is accompanied by turbid yellowy urine and thick yellow tongue coating, it is a Damp-Heat Syndrome. Tonic for Men and Women is not suitable for Damp-Heat Pattern, in this case you should take Clear Root Fire.

Contra-indicated in pregnancy.

 

IMPOTENCE, LOW LIBIDO, MALE INFERTILITY

Disease description:

In men, testosterone deficiency reduces libido and penile sensitivity. Chronic diseases such as chronic kidney failure, cirrhosis of the liver, alcoholism, hypothyroidism, etc. can reduce the sexual desire in men, as well as depression and other psychological causes.

Erectile Dysfunction (impotence) means that the penis becomes flaccid again after a short time or does not become stiff at all during an erection. Although sexual desire is often still present, satisfying sex is often no longer possible. Men of all ages can be affected, but potency problems increase with age. The Essence stored in the Kidney is the material basis of sexual function and the original substance that promotes sexual development and maintains sexual function. Kidney Essence is transformed into Kidney Qi under the steaming effect of KidneyYang. Kidney Qi has the effect of warming and invigorating the genitals to complete the excitement and sexual intercourse of the genitals.

The Heart dominates the mental consciousness of the human body. Although sexual function is rooted in the Kidney, it starts in the Heart.

The Liver Meridian is wrapped around the penis. Furthermore, the Liver smoothes emotions and ensures flow of energy, so Liver function and sexual function are closely related.
