Common questions
What is Chinaherb Merry Life Formula used for?+
Merry Life Formula (Xiao Yao Wan) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine formula that nourishes the Liver and smooths Liver Qi. It is traditionally used for low mood, irritability, mood swings and stress, and for menstrual complaints such as irregular or late periods, period pain, PMS and sore breasts — especially where symptoms become worse with stress or emotional upset.
Where does the Merry Life Formula come from?+
It comes from the 'Tai Ping Formulas of welfare dispensary', published by the emperor's health store of the Song Dynasty in 1106 AD. The name reflects the idea that when Liver Qi is lively and smooth, the mood becomes cheerful and troubles are left behind.
Is Merry Life Formula helpful for PMS?+
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Liver Stagnation and Blood Deficiency are seen as central to many gynaecological complaints, and Merry Life Formula is a common prescription for premenstrual tension, PMS, and irregular or late menstruation. Our consultants can help you decide whether it suits your picture — in-store or on WhatsApp.
How do I know if my pattern matches this formula in TCM terms?+
Merry Life Formula suits what TCM calls Liver Qi Stagnation — irritability, low mood, lack of social interest, breast distension and poor appetite, typically worse under stress. Speak to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, nursing or on medication.
Product details
逍遥丸 / Xiao Yao Wan — Merry Life Formula (60 tablets)
Merry Life Formula comes from the "Tai Ping Formulas of the Welfare Dispensary", published by the imperial health bureau of the Song Dynasty in 1106 AD. The classical texts describe that after taking it, the Liver Qi is lively and smooth, the mood is cheerful and troubles are left behind.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine terms, the formula is composed to nourish the Liver and smooth Liver Qi. It is the classical formula for the pattern of Liver Qi Stagnation with Blood Deficiency — traditionally described as irritability, mood swings, distress in the chest, and symptoms that become worse with stress or emotional upset.
Chinaherb formulas are classical prescriptions produced in tablet form. Traditional Chinese Medicine works with individual patterns — for the best result, use under the guidance of a TCM practitioner who can confirm that this formula matches your pattern.
This product is a traditional Chinese medicine and is not intended to diagnose or cure any disease. Persistent low mood needs proper care — please speak to your doctor or a mental-health professional.
