Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has been valued in traditional herbal medicine for centuries, prized for its wide-ranging therapeutic applications. This 100g loose herb from Pharma Germania provides a generous supply of dried yarrow for preparing herbal teas and infusions at home.

Traditionally used across European and Southern African herbal practices, yarrow is perhaps best known for its role in supporting digestive health. It has been used to help ease bloating, cramping, and general digestive discomfort. The herb contains flavonoids and sesquiterpene lactones, which are believed to contribute to its bitter tonic properties that may stimulate appetite and support healthy bile flow.

Yarrow has also been traditionally employed to support circulatory health and promote healthy blood flow. Its astringent properties have made it a popular choice in folk medicine for addressing minor wounds and skin irritations when applied topically as a cooled infusion or compress.

Additionally, yarrow tea has long been used during the cold and flu season, where its diaphoretic qualities may help support the body's natural fever response. Many herbalists also recommend it for its calming effect on menstrual discomfort.

To prepare, steep one to two teaspoons of dried yarrow in freshly boiled water for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain and enjoy up to three times daily. The slightly bitter, aromatic flavour can be softened with a touch of honey or blended with complementary herbs such as chamomile or peppermint.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve freshness and potency. Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking chronic medication.
