Tongkat Ali 60 Capsules

Sfera Tongkat Ali is a root extract of Eurycoma longifolia, a plant long used in Malaysia, in 60 vegetarian capsules.

What is in it

One vegetarian capsule provides:

• Eurycoma longifolia (Tongkat Ali) [root, 100:1 extract providing 50 g of dried herb equivalent] — 500 mg
• Other ingredients: vegetarian capsule and microcrystalline cellulose

How to take it

Adults 18 years and older: take one capsule daily with water and a meal, or as directed by your health care provider. Do not exceed two capsules per day. Sfera do not recommend it for children or adolescents under 18.

Do not use this product if

• you are hypersensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients, including the excipients — stop use if hypersensitivity or allergy occurs
• you have prostate cancer, or a history of prostate cancer
• you have breast cancer, heart disease, liver disease or sleep apnoea
• you are using hypoglycaemic agents

Speak to your health care provider first if

• you have a medical condition or take prescription medication
• you have a compromised immune system — Sfera state that Eurycoma longifolia may further weaken immune function
• you are older: Sfera warn of a potential risk in elderly men, which might cause prostatic problems, on the basis of the effect they claim on serum testosterone
• you take propranolol — Sfera state the extract can reduce its levels and clinical effects, and advise discussing dosing with your health care provider
• you take insulin or oral hypoglycaemic medication — Sfera state the extract might reduce blood glucose levels and that combined use might increase the risk of hypoglycaemia, so a dose adjustment may be necessary

Sfera advise discontinuing at least two weeks before elective surgical procedures, and that vitamins, minerals and nutrients from other sources should be taken into account.
