What is L-Lysine and what does it do?+

Lysine is an amino acid with a variety of functions in the body. It promotes the synthesis of carnitine, an amino acid that plays a role in transporting fats as fuel into the heart muscle, which supports heart strength. Speak to your healthcare provider about whether it suits your needs.

How do I take FORTIFOOD L-Lysine powder?+

Take a half to one level teaspoonful (1 to 3g) dissolved in water before meals, in divided doses. Each level teaspoon contains 1.00 g of L-Lysine. Do not exceed a daily dose of 5g per day.

Can I take L-Lysine while pregnant or breastfeeding?+

The label states it is not to be used by pregnant or lactating women. If you are pregnant, nursing or on medication, speak to your healthcare provider before starting any supplement.

Does L-Lysine have any side effects?+

Cases of diarrhoea and abdominal pain have been reported. Excessively high doses may increase cholesterol levels, so keep to the label dose and do not exceed 5g per day. No interactions are known.

Lysine is an amino acid with a variety of functions in the body. It contributes to the body's synthesis of carnitine, an amino acid which plays a role in the transport of fats used as fuel by muscle tissue, including the heart muscle.

CONTRA INDICATIONS
Excessively high doses may increase cholesterol levels and should therefore be avoided by people with high cholesterol levels or an increased risk of heart disease. Not to be used by pregnant or lactating women.

WARNINGS
Do not exceed a daily dose of 5g per day.
