A.Vogel Cough Formula is a homeopathic medicine that assists with spasmodic, irritating coughs. Its ingredients include Drosera rotundifolia and Ipecacuanha, which are described as expectorants and as relieving irritating, paroxysmal coughing.

How do I take A.Vogel Cough Formula?+

Adults and children over 12 years take 10 drops on the tongue, directly under the tongue or in a teaspoon of water, 4 times daily, 15 minutes before meals. Discontinue once improvement occurs, or follow your doctor or healthcare provider's directions.

Can children take A.Vogel Cough Formula?+

Yes — the label gives children's dosages: 5 drops for ages 6-12 and 2 drops for ages 2-6, taken 4 times daily, 15 minutes before meals. Always check the label, and speak to your healthcare provider if you are unsure.

What if the cough is severe?+

In acute or severe cases, the label allows the relevant number of drops for your or your child's age to be taken hourly, gradually reducing frequency as improvement occurs. You can also follow the directions of your doctor or healthcare provider.

  • Ginkgo biloba: counteracts poor circulation.
  • Drosera rotundifolia, Aralia racemoasa, Cuprum acetic and Ammi visnaga: relieve irritating, paroxysmal coughing.
  • Ipecacuanha and Ginkgo biloba: are effective expectorants.
  • Cetraria islandica and Phellandrium aquaticum are expectorants that: decrease the formation of catarrh in the respiratory passages.

A homeopathic medicine which assists in the treatment of spasmodic, irritating coughs.

 

Dosage

 

Adults and children over 12 years:
Take 10 drops on the tongue, or directly under the tongue or in a teaspoon of water 4 times daily 15 minutes before meals. Discontinue once improvement occurs.

Children 6-12 years:
Take 5 drops on the tongue, or directly under the tongue or in a teaspoon of water 4 times daily 15 minutes before meals.

Children 2-6 years:
Take 2 drops on the tongue, or directly under the tongue or in a teaspoon of water 4 times daily 15 minutes before meals.

In acute/severe cases:
Take the relevant number of drops according to your/your child’s age hourly, gradually reducing frequency as improvement occurs, or as directed by your doctor or healthcare provider.

Bronchodilatory action on bronchioles.

Aralia racemosa D2 (American Spikenard)

Cough which starts when first lying down at night until midnight. Recurrent chest infections with tight, chesty dry cough. Asthmatic cough with shortness of breath aggravated by cold draughts and exposure to cold, better from expectoration. Dry cough at night but rattling in the morning, worse lying down.

Cephaelis acuminata D6 (Ipecacuanha)

Dry, irritating, tickling, fits of suffocative coughing (paroxysms) associated with croup, tracheitis, bronchiolitis or asthma and may be accompanied by choking or gagging with cough or even bring on vomiting.

Cetraria islandica D1 (Iceland moss)

Severe wet cough starting around breakfast time and lasting hours with excessive expectoration of thick, yellow lumpy or bloody mucous which is nauseating due to its bad taste. Shortness of breath and soreness in the chest.

Drosera rotundifolia D1 (Sundew)

Dry irritating, spasmodic, deep, hoarse or asthmatic cough or violent fits of coughing with difficulty in catching breath and choking. Tickling in the larynx setting off fits of coughing. Irritating cough in children when lying down at night but fine during the day.

Ginkgo biloba D2 (Ginkgo)

Cough from irritation in larynx and thick mucous which is difficult to expectorate and shortness of breath. Extreme weakness and fatigue associated with coughing.

Sanguinaria canadensis D6 (Blood root)

Coughs of gastric and digestive origin. Coughing with a burning pain in the chest or shortness of breath. A tickling sensation behind the breastbone which causes fits of spasmodic coughing which is worse when lying down at night. Irritation in the larynx or trachea bringing on the cough.
