Common questions

What is Chinaherb Stomach Tonic?+

Stomach Tonic is a Traditional Chinese Medicine formula supplied as 60 tablets, based on the classical Xiang Sha Yang Wei Decoction recorded by Gong Tingxian in a Ming Dynasty text published in 1615 AD. In TCM terms it is described as warming the Stomach and regulating Stomach Qi.

What everyday digestive complaints is this formula traditionally used for?+

Within the TCM tradition it is used for indigestion-type discomfort — stomach ache, distension and uncomfortable fullness after eating, poor appetite, loose stools and the fatigue that can come with them. TCM attributes these to inadequate Stomach Yang, Dampness and stagnation of Qi.

When should I see a doctor instead of reaching for a stomach formula?+

Indigestion is usually harmless, but ongoing or severe symptoms deserve proper medical attention — speak to your healthcare provider if discomfort is persistent, worsening, or accompanied by other symptoms, and if you are pregnant, nursing or on medication. Our consultants can help you decide what to ask at any of our three stores or on WhatsApp.
