What is Chinaherb Relieve Bi?+
Relieve Bi is the classical Chinese formula Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang, first recorded in the Thousand-Golden-Prescriptions written by Sun Simiao in 652 AD. Its focus is removing Wind, Cold and Dampness while nourishing the Liver, Kidney, and Qi and Blood in traditional Chinese medicine terms.
What is Relieve Bi traditionally used for?+
In traditional Chinese medicine it is used for stiffness, aches, heaviness or numbness in the joints and muscles, weakness in the back and knees, and lower back discomfort — the pattern TCM calls chronic Bi Syndrome. It suits discomfort that feels worse in cold, damp weather and better with warmth.
Who is this formula suited to?+
The Wind, Cold and Damp pattern it addresses is often seen in older people, where TCM describes an underlying Liver, Kidney, Qi and Blood weakness. If you are unsure whether your pattern fits, our consultants can help in-store or on WhatsApp.
How do I take Relieve Bi?+

Relieve Bi is from the earliest clinical encyclopedia of traditional Chinese medicine “Thousand-Golden-Prescriptions” written by Sun Simiao of Tang Dynasty in 652 AD. Many practitioners in the later generations evaluated the Relieve Bi, the focus is on removing Wind, Cold and Dampness, supplemented with nourishing the Liver, Kidney, and Qi and Blood. Its composition is considered to “eliminate Evil without hurting the Zheng Qi, support the Zheng Qi without remaining Evil”. It is traditionally used in Chinese medicine for chronic Bi Syndrome, traditionally described as pain and weakness in the back and knees, stiffness of joint muscles, numbness of limbs, pain aggravated by cold, pale tongue, white coating and weak pulse.
In that tradition it is associated with Wind-Cold and Damp Bi patterns, and with fatigue attributed to Qi Deficiency and Damp Phlegm.
