It is used for the pattern TCM calls Kidney Yin Deficiency — a sore, weak lower back, dizziness, ringing in the ears, hot flushes, night sweats, dry mouth, a feeling of heat in the palms and soles, and restless sleep. It is also widely used as a general nourishing formula with ageing.

Nourish Root Yin (Liu Wei Di Huang Wan) is a classical Chinese herbal formula. It originated from the “Concise Explanation of Paediatric Herbs and Syndromes”, written by Qian Yi, a paediatrician of the Song Dynasty, and has a history of more than 900 years of clinical application.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nourish Root Yin is associated with nourishing Yin and the Kidney. Within the TCM framework it is traditionally used for Kidney and Yin Deficiency patterns.
