Expel Lung Cold (Xiao Qing Long Tang) is a classical formula named by the ancient Chinese medical sage Zhang Zhongjing. Qinglong, the mythical beast of the East, unified the four seas of water — the name reflects the formula’s traditional association with “treating water” within the TCM framework.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Expel Lung Cold is associated with warming the Lungs and dispelling Cold. Within the TCM framework it is traditionally used for patterns of Cold and accumulated fluid affecting the Lungs, described in the tradition as producing thin, white sputum and worsening in cold weather and winter.
