清气化痰丸 / Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan3

Treats the following symptoms:

Clear Lung Heat was released from the “Medical prescription research” edited by Wu Kun, a famous Chinese doctor in the Ming Dynasty. It was created for the treatment of Phlegm Heat accumulating in the Lungs, manifested as cough, chest tightness, thick and yellow sputum and other symptoms related dysfunction of Lungs. For more than 500 years, this recipe has been used in ancient China to treat Heat obstructive pulmonary disease.

The Heat obstructive pulmonary disease is characterized by cough, thick and yellow or even bloody sputum. The cough is unpleasant and causes chest pain and fullness of the chest ribs. It may start by an invading of exogenous Heat Evil, the Heat is then refining the body fluid into sputum, scorching the Lung and sputum. The sputum and Heat getting tightly knotted and blocking the Lungs. The Heat obstructive pulmonary disease is equivalent to bronchial and pulmonary infections caused by various pathogens in modern medicine, including acute and chronic bronchitis, asthma, cough, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pulmonary infection, lobar pneumonia, mycoplasma pneumonia, lung Abscess, the early stage of tuberculosis, which are phlegm-heat accumulations. It supports treatment of HIV/AIDS patients with lung problems. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Clear Lung Heat has antitussive, expectorant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, anti-asthmatic and immunomodulatory effects.

ACUTE COUGH AND BRONCHITIS

Typical symptoms:

cough, fever

Disease description:

Coughing is a natural reflex to quickly get rid of germs, harmful or foreign substances in the airways. A severe irritable cough can develop into an acute asthma attack.

The inflammation of upper airways in the lungs, the bronchial tubes, is called bronchitis. Acute bronchitis is very common as it often develops from a cold or other respiratory infection. An acute bronchitis cough usually lasts for 10 days, sometimes up to 3 weeks. In the beginning, cough is the first symptom. This cough will be dry at first, then becomes productive, meaning you will cough out mucus because bronchitis causes the accumulation of mucus in the airways. Other symptoms are shortness of breath and low fever.

Explanation according to the Traditional Chinese Medicine:

The disease is seen in cough and acute bronchitis, which is called Exogenous Cough in Chinese medicine. The reason is that the External Wind, Cold, Dampness, Dryness or Fire Evil invade the Lung system, resulting in obstruction of Lung Qi and the reverse of the Lung Qi leads to cough and sputum. Due to different body constitution and different nature of External Evil, it can be manifested as different symptoms such as Wind-Cold or Wind-Heat.

Possible syndromes causing these problems:

Wind-Cold

Exterior Wind-Cold Invasions cause failure of the Lung to descend and disperse Qi with interior Phlegm-fluid retention: sudden wheezing and breathlessness, difficulty exhaling, no sweating, chest tightness, pale face, feeling cold, sneezing, cough, no thirst and stiff neck.

Recommended formulas to use:

Lung Heat

An Exterior Wind-Heat attack prevents the descent and diffusion of Lung Qi and Phlegm-Heat obstruction: fever, cold, chest tightness, loud wheezing, cough, thirst.

In the beginning, before the phlegm becomes yellow:
Wind Heat Cough

At a later stage, when phlegm turns yellow:
Clear Lung Heat
