Clear Heat Bi (Qing Re Chu Bi Pian) is an adjusted formula from the ancient recipe “Xuan Bi Tang” recorded in the classic text “Differentiation and Treatment of Febrile Disease”. In this modern adjustment, Sang Zhi (Ramulus Mori) and Wei Ling Xian are used in place of Fangji, which contains aristolochic acid.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Clear Heat Bi is associated with clearing Damp-Heat and dredging the Meridians. Within the TCM framework it is traditionally used for Damp-Heat Bi Syndrome — patterns in which Damp-Heat is understood to accumulate in the joints and meridians, blocking the flow of Qi and Blood.
