Common questions

How do I start taking Florish Spore Probiotic?+

The maker recommends starting slow and building up gradually: 1 capsule every other day for the first week, then 1 capsule daily, then the full adult dose of 2 capsules taken together every day. Sensitive people can begin with as little as a quarter or half a capsule every other day. It is best taken with food or right after a meal, and the dose can be sprinkled on food or stirred into non-carbonated drinks.

Can children take Florish Spore Probiotic?+

Yes, the dosing guidelines scale down for children: 2 capsules per day for children over 10 years, 1 capsule per day for ages 5 - 10, and half a capsule a day for children under 5. For very young children, dosing can start with as little as a sprinkle. Check the package insert and speak to your healthcare provider if you are unsure.

Can I take Florish while I am on antibiotics?+

Yes. According to the maker it can be taken during a course of antibiotics, but not at the same moment as the antibiotic itself, take it 4 hours away from the antibiotic dose.

What are the detox or die-off effects some people mention?+

Some people experience detox or die-off effects when starting a spore probiotic, and others feel nothing at all; it is very individual. That is exactly why the dosing builds up slowly over the first weeks. The maker recommends reading the package insert to familiarise yourself with possible detox symptoms, and our consultants can help in-store or on WhatsApp.

Is Florish Spore Probiotic vegan and gluten free?+

Yes. It is listed as safe for vegetarians and vegans, and it is gluten and wheat free. It is produced in South Africa and carries a 5 year expiry date.

Product details

Five spore-forming Bacillus strains with fulvic acid, made in South Africa, 60 vegan capsules. If you have not taken a spore probiotic before, the schedule below is the part of this page that matters — the maker does not start you on a full dose, it builds up over three weeks.

What the label says

The bottle reads FLORISH Spore Probiotic with Fulvic Acid, under the maker's registered line The Gut Health Game Changer, and 60 Vegan Capsules · Dietary Food Supplement.

Made in South Africa. The supplier states a five-year expiry from manufacture, and that the product is safe for vegetarians and vegans and free from gluten and wheat.

How to take it

Best taken with food, or right after a meal. The dose can be sprinkled onto food or stirred into a non-carbonated drink.

The maker's three-week build:

  • Week 1 — 1 capsule every other day.
  • Week 2 — 1 capsule daily.
  • Week 3 onward — the full adult dose of 2 capsules together, daily.

For anyone more sensitive, the maker says to start smaller still — a quarter, a third or half a capsule every other day — and work up.

Children, scaled by the maker: over 10 years, 2 capsules a day; 5 to 10 years, 1 a day; under 5, half a capsule a day. From three months old it can start at a sprinkle.

After the first two to three months the maker's guidance is to taper — full dose every other day for a month, then every third day, then every fourth, which becomes the maintenance dose of roughly twice a week.

With antibiotics: the maker states it can be taken during a course, but not at the same time — leave four hours between them.

What is in it

Five Bacillus strains, with fulvic acid:

  • Bacillus lichenformis
  • Bacillus indicus
  • Bacillus subtilis
  • Bacillus clausii
  • Bacillus coagulans

Before you buy

The maker asks that you read the package insert that comes in the box before starting. It also notes that how people settle in varies a great deal — some notice a period of adjustment in the first weeks and others notice nothing at all — which is the reason for building the dose up slowly rather than starting at the top.

Keep out of reach of children.
