What is a shampoo base and who is it for?+
Escentia's Natural Shampoo Base is a non-fragranced starting point for DIY enthusiasts who want to make their own shampoo. You customise it by adding the essential oils, carrier oils, conditioning agents or actives of your choice to suit your hair type and needs.
What is the shampoo base made of?+
Only natural and naturally derived ingredients: water, lauryl glucoside (from coconut oil and cornstarch, Ecocert-approved), vegetable glycerine, glycerol stearate, avocado oil, xanthan gum, sodium citrate, potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate. It is free from parabens, sulphate and salt.
How do I customise the shampoo base?+
Stir in essential oils for fragrance, carrier oils or infusions for conditioning, and any actives suited to your hair. Because the base itself is unscented and of vegetable origin, enriched with avocado oil, it adapts readily to whatever you add.
Any safety notes for the shampoo base?+
It is for external use only — do not ingest it. Store it away from children, animals, sunlight and heat, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your medical care-giver before use.
