What is benzoin oil?+
Benzoin oil, also known as Friars Balsam, comes from Styrax benzoin and has a sweet, balsamic, vanilla-like aroma with a calming character. It presents more like a syrupy liquid than a thin oil, and it originates from Sumatra.
How do I use benzoin oil?+
For inhalation, add 3-4 drops to a bowl of steaming hot water, cover your head with a towel and breathe in the vapour. For skin care, blend 1 part benzoin oil with 2 parts rosewater as a cleanser, or apply it to dry, cracked, chapped skin; it is also used as a fixative in soaps and fragrances.
Can I take benzoin oil internally?+
No — this natural product is for external use only; do not ingest it. Store it away from children, animals, sunlight and heat, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your medical care-giver before use.
Is benzoin oil safe for sensitive skin?+
Benzoin essential oil is non-toxic and a non-irritant, but it is a mild sensitiser, so take care if you have sensitive or allergy-prone skin. Do a spot test before use.
What does benzoin oil blend well with?+
Because of its sticky, resinous nature it doesn't make a good base for blends, but it pairs beautifully with bergamot, frankincense, lavender, lemon, orange, petitgrain, rose and sandalwood. For skin tonics it can be blended with rosewater and witch hazel.

HOW TO USE

- Apply diluted to cracked, chapped, dry skin
