Key Bioactivities of Copper Citrate
- Essential mineral function: As a source of copper, it plays a vital role in numerous physiological functions, including energy metabolism, formation of red blood cells (by facilitating iron absorption), maintenance of healthy bones and connective tissue and functioning of the immune and nervous systems.
- Antioxidant support: Copper helps the body’s antioxidant enzymes function properly and protect the body from damage caused by gree radicals.
- Antimicrobial properties: Copper ions released from copper citrate have potent biocidal properties effective against bacteria, moulds and fungi. This makes it a potential ingredient in topical creams and wound dressings to treat skin infections and promote healing.
- High bioavailability: It is considered a readily available and well-tolerated form of copper for dietary supplementation and its absorption is supported by the citrate compound.

What are six key benefits of supplementing Copper?

Written by ArdisLabs Support
Supplementing with copper can provide several benefits to the body. Here are six key benefits:
- Promotes healthy immune function: Copper is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in the function of the immune system. It is required for the production of white blood cells, which help to fight infections and protect the body against disease.
- Supports cardiovascular health: Copper is necessary for the production of collagen, a protein that supports the structure of blood vessels and promotes healthy blood flow. Copper also helps to regulate blood pressure and prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
- Supports brain function: Copper is involved in the production of neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that transmit signals in the brain. Adequate copper levels are necessary for proper brain function, including memory and learning.
- Promotes healthy skin and hair: Copper is involved in the production of melanin, a pigment that gives skin and hair their color. It also helps to promote collagen production, which supports skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Helps to prevent anemia: Copper is required for the production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body. A deficiency in copper can lead to anemia, a condition in which there are not enough red blood cells to carry oxygen.
- Acts as an antioxidant: Copper is a potent antioxidant, which means it helps to protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause cellular damage and contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
