Probiotics — South Africa
Multi-strain probiotics, S. boulardii, and prebiotic blends — consultant-vetted, cold-chain shipped. The strain matters more than the CFU count. Free delivery over R400, same-day pickup in Gauteng.
Probiotics are not interchangeable. The strain matters more than the CFU count on the front of the box. Our consultants would point most people at a multi-strain probiotic with at least 10–20 billion CFU taken consistently for 8–12 weeks.
For post-antibiotic recovery: Saccharomyces boulardii. For everyday gut and immunity: a multi-strain Lactobacillus + Bifidobacterium blend. For IBS/SIBO patterns, speak to your doctor first — then ask us about the strains researched for gut comfort.
Take it at night, away from hot drinks, keep it sealed and cool.
Common questions
What probiotic should I take for IBS?
For IBS, the research supports specific strains — not all probiotics help, and some can make things worse. A diagnosed IBS conversation belongs with your doctor first. Once you've had it, WhatsApp our consultants and we'll point you to the options in our range researched for gut comfort.
Do I need to refrigerate my probiotic?
Some strains require refrigeration — always check the label. Shelf-stable formulations are designed to survive ambient temperature, but heat (in a car, on the windowsill) will still kill them. Keep it cool and sealed.
How long should I take a probiotic?
Most people need a minimum of 8–12 weeks of daily dosing before they judge the outcome. Stopping at 2 weeks is too early. After 12 weeks, you can usually drop to a maintenance dose or rotate strains.
How many CFU do I actually need?
For general health: 10–20 billion CFU. For post-antibiotic recovery or chronic gut issues: 50 billion+. More isn't always better — strain quality and survival to the gut matter more than the headline CFU count.

From the counter
Good bacteria, chosen well
Probiotics are the most-asked-about shelf in the store, and the most confusing to buy blind: strains, CFU counts, fridge or cupboard, spore or traditional. We stock the ones that survive scrutiny — spore-based formulas like Florish that handle stomach acid without refrigeration, multi-strain classics, and kids' formats that don't taste like punishment.
The two-minute buying guide
Match the probiotic to the job: everyday maintenance reads differently from after-antibiotics rebuilding, and a travel probiotic must be shelf-stable by definition. CFU counts only matter if the strains arrive alive — which is why we favour spore formats for South African summers. Probiotics support normal gut flora; persistent digestive trouble belongs with a doctor first. Our consultants will match you to one bottle, free, on WhatsApp — prices include VAT, delivery free over R400.
