The cultivated material is grown via vegetative propagation with root rhizomes only, ensuring that the molecular composition of the cultivated Rhodiola rosea is identical to the wild-grown plant. Only older roots are harvested and repeat harvesting from the same locality is done on a 5 year rotation to ensure sustainable re-establishment of the crop.
