Product details
A.Vogel Dormeasan is a herbal tincture made from freshly harvested, organically grown valerian root and hops. 50 ml of liquid drops. It is not a sleeping pill.
What is in it
1 ml of Dormeasan oral liquid (about 35 drops) contains:
- Valerian root tincture 0.5 ml (Valeriana officinalis L.) (1:10-11) — extraction solvent: ethanol 58% v/v
- Hops strobile tincture 0.5 ml (Humulus lupulus L.) (1:12-13) — extraction solvent: ethanol 65% v/v
The other ingredients are ethanol and water. Because the herbs are used fresh, the tincture keeps its volatile oils and has a stronger taste and smell — some people prefer to take it in fruit juice rather than water.
How to take it
Adults and children over 12: 30 drops in a little water about half an hour before bedtime, which may be increased to 90 drops at night if necessary; or 10-20 drops in a little water once or twice during the day.
Children 6-12: 15 drops in a little water or juice before bedtime; or 5-10 drops once or twice during the day.
This product is not known to be habit forming.
Who should not take it
- Do not use if you are allergic to valerian root or hops, or if you are already taking any other medicine or herbal preparation for disturbed sleep or insomnia
- Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Do not use if you are taking another medicine that is affected by alcohol
- If your symptoms worsen, or you feel no benefit within 4 weeks, talk to your doctor
Like all medicines this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Minor side effects that can occur are feeling sick and stomach discomfort; these are often short-lived. If they trouble you, or you notice a side effect not listed here, tell your doctor or healthcare provider. If you feel drowsy after taking it, do not drive or operate machinery.
Our consultants can talk you through this one at any of the three counters, or on WhatsApp.
