Pharma Germania Gentian Root Cut provides 100g of dried, cut gentian root (Gentiana lutea), a bitter herb with a long history of use in traditional European herbal medicine. Sourced and prepared to pharmaceutical standards, this cut root format is ideal for preparing herbal teas, decoctions, and tinctures at home.

Gentian root is renowned as one of nature's most intensely bitter botanicals. It contains bitter compounds, primarily amarogentin and gentiopicroside, which are traditionally used to support healthy digestion. These bitter principles are believed to stimulate the production of saliva, gastric acid, and bile, helping to promote appetite and ease occasional digestive discomfort such as bloating and sluggish digestion.

The cut form of gentian root offers versatility in preparation. To make a traditional bitter tea, steep approximately one teaspoon of the cut root in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes. Due to its pronounced bitter taste, many people prefer to combine gentian with complementary herbs or a small amount of honey. It can also be macerated in alcohol to create a homemade digestive bitter tincture, similar to those used in European apothecary traditions for centuries.

Gentian root is best taken approximately 15 to 30 minutes before meals to support digestive function. It is not recommended for individuals with gastric or duodenal ulcers, as the stimulation of gastric secretions may aggravate these conditions. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare practitioner before use.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve potency. Each 100g pack offers an economical supply for regular use.
