Although Nourish Blood is the formula of treating both Heart and Spleen, the focus is on the treatment of the Spleen, because the Spleen is the source of Qi and Blood metaplasia. So, it is called “Gui Pi”, meaning “return to the Spleen“. Disease description:

Anaemia is the deficiency of red blood pigment and / or red blood cells and thus a too low proportion of blood cells in the body to carry adequate oxygen to your body’s tissues. Having anaemia can make you feel tired and weak. Women are more susceptible because of their menstrual periods. An imbalanced diet or certain genetic chronic diseases can also lead to anaemia. Signs of anaemia are paleness, dizziness, headaches, tiredness and lack of concentration, along with shortness of breath and chest pains and increased susceptibility to infections.

Explanation according to the Traditional Chinese Medicine:

Chinese Medicine believes that Blood production comes from the essence of Mizutani. People ingest Mizutani through nutrients and absorb the subtlety of food from the Spleen and Stomach and then turn into Blood. The formation and regulation of Blood is also closely related to the Heart, Liver, Spleen, Kidney and other organs. Therefore, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is determined that “Heart leads Blood, Liver stores Blood, and Spleen controls Blood,” meaning the Heart gives the Blood the power to flow, leading it, while the Liver stores the Blood and the Spleen controls the Blood to keep in in the vessels.  The full function of these organs depends on the life of the Kidney Yang. A weakened Heart, Liver, Spleen or Kidney function can all lead to Blood Deficiency.
