Emotionally, Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil is heralded for being helpful with stress and anxiety. It’s also used in cases of depression or when trying to cope with anger. Ylang-Ylang is also considered an aphrodisiac.

For Chakra work, Ylang-Ylang essential oil is said to help balance the Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras. Topically, Ylang-Ylang Oil has been praised for helping combat acne and oily skin. It may help with alopecia (hair loss).

Aroma: Sweet, floral, exotic and heavy.

Precautions: Excessive use may lead to headaches and nausea. Could possibly irritate sensitive skin and it is advised to refrain from using it on inflammatory skin conditions and dermatitis.

Mind: Excellent for excitable conditions, such as regulating adrenaline flow and relaxing the nervous system, thereby resulting in a feeling of joy. Could very well ease feelings of anger, anxiety, shock, panic and fear.

Body: Its reputed ability to balance the hormones makes it valuable for problems associated with the reproductive system. Principally a tonic to the womb and could well be helpful after a caesarean birth, instilling a feeling of warmth and togetherness. Also said to keep the breasts firm. Its antidepressant and aphrodisiac qualities are well known in helping with sexual problems, such as impotence and frigidity. Particularly useful for rapid breathing and a rapid heartbeat and its sedative properties could help lower high blood pressure. Altogether it has a relaxing effect on the nervous system, although prolonged use may create an opposite effect. Its antiseptic nature seems to have a beneficial action on intestinal infections.

Skin: A versatile oil, having a balancing action that makes it effective on both oily and dry skin. Also has a tonic and stimulating effect on the scalp promoting a more luxurious hair growth.

Ylang Ylang Complete: The essential oil obtained from a complete, uninterrupted distillation. Within holistic aromatherapy, typically the complete oil is preferred.

Ylang-Ylang III: After Ylang-Ylang Extra essential oil is collected, the distillation process continues. After a specific period of time, the distillation process is stopped and the resulting oil is then again collected. That oil is then referred to as Ylang-Ylang I essential oil. The process repeats, resulting in Ylang-Ylang II and Ylang-Ylang III. The duration between distillations can vary between distillers. The distillations are generally referred to as fractions and are typically used within fragrance and perfumery applications.

Ylang-Ylang is typically distilled in fractions. Ylang-Ylang complete oil is the product of the plant that was distilled for the full allotted time, whereas other versions are distilled for a less amount of time. Ylang-Ylang III is usually used in perfumery and cosmetics as it consists of a more floral scent, as opposed to the muskier version that comes with Ylang-Ylang Complete.

Blends well with: Citronella, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Melissa, Neroli, Orange, Patchouli, Rose, Rosewood and Sandalwood.

Our Ylang-Ylang (iii) is extracted through water or steam distillation from the freshly picked flowers. It is a yellowish oily liquid with a sweet-floral and balsamic-woody odour. It is also said to have a tenacious and very sweet balsamic undertone. It is a middle to base note oil.
