Castor Oil is a well known oil. It used to be used mostly for digestive upsets, stimulating digestion and relieving constipation. This is mostly due to the high concentration of ricinoleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid – helping it to act as a natural laxative. In the same breath, Castor oil is great for detoxing the body. When taken daily in small amounts, it can take toxins with it as it exits the body.
This carrier oil is also wonderful to support the immune system. Castor oil can help improve blood flow which in turn helps create white blood cells that helps to fight bacteria. The thymus gland which produces T-cells for the immune system to thrive receives great support with this oil.
Castor oil is an anti-fungal as well. The undecylenic acid in it helps curb the development of fungal growth and infections. it might even help cure yeast infections.
It is also an anti-inflammatory oil, making it wonderful for easing burns. It soothes inflammation of the skin, being a great oil to use for eczema and psoriasis. Both on the skin and scalp.
Castor oil can be used internally, and has been used this way for ages. Take care to only take about a tablespoon full a day. Use a few drops on your scalp as a treatment. Also use it directly on skin burns or as a face toner or serum. You can use it in a 10ml roller bottle with an oil such as Copaiba or Lavender as a scrapes soother for kids.
